நாடோடிகள் New Trend for FRIENDS LIFE

  • NAdodigal

When we starve forlove, often we will find friends and relative who support our love. Many a time they support us from heart anddon’t mind their personal losses. However, once we get the love, do we

live it to match thesacrifice?? How we reciprocate the loveand support they give t

o us in forms of money, material things, prayers andblood?? This is true in the case offreedom as well. As a nation, we foughtfor the freedom of the country and sacrificed a lot of lives for that. Do we really value their sacrifices and arewe ready to fight to protect it? If ‘love’ is in danger, do we fight with thesame spirit, as we think for the country?? Nadodigal will discuss the price of love and the need to fight f

or it.

Karuna (Sasi Kumar), Pandi (Bharani)and Chandran (Vijay Vasanth) arevery close friends. Karuna has finishedhis B.A. in history and is in desperate search for a government job, so that hecan marry his uncles’s daughter (Nivetha). Chandran wants to set up a computer center andis in love with Karuna’s sister Pavitra (Abhinaya). Chandran & father is like friendsand his father is in full support of this love. Pandian (Bharani) is planning to go abroad and has applied for the passport. His father loves him deeply but cannot showthe love since Pandian’s step mother doesn’t like it. Karuna’s college mate and friend Saravanancome to visit and stay with Karuna for few days. He was added to the friendship circle. One day, Saravanan attempt to suicide wherehe felt that he will not be able to marry the girl he loves. The friends decide to start a journey to savethe love of their friend, where the journey was not that easy. Watch the rest on screen and you will simplylove it!!

Samuthirakkani, the director who had given us Subramanyapuramentertains us more this time. A wellknitted story – Nadodigal is a celebration of love and friendship. More than the story, it is the treatment ofthe characters, their relation that makes the difference. The friendship between the trio, fatherlylove, love which requires sacrifice…Nadodigal provide us with many memorablesituations. The story is very grippingand many scenes will keep us on edge of the seat. At the same time, excellent comedy was wovenwithout destroying any characters and suitable to the situations. The director compromised in some places, likethe unwanted ‘item number’. Here, thechoreographer failed the director miserably. Screen play is not fool proof, as there is serious lack of logic in somescenes, especially in the second half. However, when we consider the film in its totality, the plus pointscompensate for those faults. Compare to Subramaniyapuram, Nadodigal maylook little more entertaining. Also, the message is told in clear terms in the film. My appreciation to Samuthirakkani!

SasiKumar is brilliant as Karuna. He didcomplete justice to the emotionally charged, at the same time matured character. VijayVasanth however underplayed his role. Here, I thought some support was required for the character in thesecond half in which he got overshadowed. Bharaniplayed the observant & funny character brilliantly. Leading ladies Abhinaya and Nivetha (Whohave a little of Kavya Madhavan look) did their small roles beautifully. GanjaKaruppu adds to the fun. All thesupporting casts whose name I am not familiar with did good performance.

Cinematography is excellent with great mixof light and shade to suite the emotions and situations. Editing is perfect. We will not feel that the connection isinterrupted at any time or any scene unduly lengthy. Perfect jobs there!

Music is one department the film does notmatch to its predecessor, Subramaniyapuram. There is no song to match the ‘Kankal Irundal’ magic. However, the BGM director compensated forthe shortage and the ‘Sambo siva sambo’ still echo in my mind’sbackground. Once absorbed to thescenes, the extended time of continuous play of BGM was a sure success for theBGM director and to the film director.

Overall, ‘Nadodigal’is a must watch film for its excellent mix of art values in a commerciallyformatted film. In that sense,Samuthirakkani work as a bridge between the two houses of cinema. The best Tamil movie I have seen in a yearor two. Don’t miss this excellent filmwhich you will like for its story, characters, entertainment and message!!
